Every day in Bieri the operators make a careful check-up to make sure, among other things, that the couples selected and transferred to the cages get along well. Otherwise, one of the two individuals is promptly replaced, in the hope that the new couple will mutually accept each other.

Monitoring also concerns their adaptation to temporary life in the cage: the operators make sure that they are able to take the food from the feeders and drink the water from the small glasses, filled daily. Last but not least, health monitoring also takes place, for example through the control of faeces.
