The refresher course for teachers and educators “Adventures in biodiversity”, managed by Legambiente and Legambiente Scuola e Formazione within our project, was successfully concluded.

After the online lessons on the themes of biodiversity and the related educational proposals – aimed at members from all over Italy – there were two beautiful excursions carried out to discover natural environments: in the Mezzano Valley in the Ferrara area, the heart of our project and in the Reserve Natural Park of Santa Ninfa in Sicily, with its Environment Explorer Center. This made it possible to involve around thirty of the over 60 people enrolled in the course in person.

Many activities, games, workshops, observations that involved teachers and educators, with a wonderful exchange of ideas and experiences. From the simulation of a Philosophy for Children session on the theme of biodiversity, to the meeting with a nature photographer in the Po delta, Michele Sanna, to the stories about the Vallette di Ostellato reserve and the Life Perdix project with Mattia Cassani of the Coop. Atlantis. And still the search for the tree blindfolded, the walk with mirrors to be enveloped by the reflections of the branches of the forest, the color palette in nature, the observation with the transept… In short, activities for all tastes and all ages!

After more than two years exclusively online, it was very nice to meet, get involved in educational activities in nature, compare different skills and experiences and reflect together on the common commitment of accompanying children and young people in their growth with a view to scientific environmentalism and sustainability socio-environmental.ì

Many teachers have expressed the need to return to seeing each other in person, due to the educational and training importance of experiences in nature. But it was also underlined how the course provided stimuli and high-level contents, useful both for scientific updating and for socio-cultural reflections linked to the role of each of us in safeguarding biodiversity and the importance of oriented education to conscious and responsible citizenship.
