Today’s workshop, held at the ENCI headquarters in Milan, brought together the various partners of the project in a day dedicated to presentations on innovations in the use of dogs in studies of wildlife conservation and biodiversity protection. During the event, various topics were addressed, including the search for non-invasive biological samples for genetic studies on the Italian hare, the control of areas affected by ASF (African swine fever) in wild boars through the discovery of carcasses by trained dogs, the traditional use of appropriately trained dogs in censuses of galliformes species and the development of new protocols for the location of sea turtle nests to be monitored in the context of the Life Turtlenest project. We would like to thank ENCI for the hospitality and all the participants for the interesting discussion on the potential of this research.
