As part of our project, the Delta Po Park has organized the scientific seminar “The birds of the countryside” which will be held on 4 April 2024 from 10 am in Comacchio (FE), at the Manifattura dei Marinati.

Birds, especially the common nesting species, represent excellent ecological indicators also thanks to some of their peculiar characteristics: they are animals sensitive to environmental changes, they are easily contactable especially during the reproductive period (when they show evident territorial behaviours, including singing), they allow the monitoring habitats on a large scale and, occupying high levels of the food chain, reflect the changes also undergone by other taxa that occupy lower trophic levels. For this reason their conservation status is closely related to our quality of life (National Farmland Bird Index 2020/2023 – Lipu).
