In Bieri, the phenotypic selection of breeding stock for the formation of pairs for the 2021 season is in full swing. The guidelines are those contained in the 2016 Ispra Action Plan, which indicates some phenotypic characteristics of the partridge italica described by Hartert in 1917 and accompanied by some photos.

Perdix p. italica, in fact, has the plumage characterized by a more dark and less rusty and reddish color than the nominal subspecies Perdix p. perdix of Hungarian origin.
