This male red-ringed partridge is an individual released with the 2022 adoptions, photographed a few hours ago during the usual monitoring at Mezzano.
Davide Senserini, together with Daniel Tramontana, have been meeting him every day in the same spot for some time, assuming that he must have a female still incubating nearby.
It is in fact possible that some female is still completing the incubation of the recovery clutch, that is, the one that is made following the loss of the first nest (loss due for example to predation).
To confirm these suppositions, a couple of days ago Davide and Daniel came across a chick of about 4-5 days. The parents and the rest of the clutch were certainly nearby, but, despite their efforts, they were unable to locate them: with very small chicks, adults have a very cryptic behavior (and this is a good thing) that makes them difficult to locate.
Little by little, the reintroduction actions of our project are bearing fruit.
