FIdC has resumed the installation of support feeders for the supplementary feeding of partridges since last Saturday at Mezzano. Last season 150 were installed, this year the target is 400, one every 600 m, in order to cover the entire reintroduction area of the Mezzano Valley (18,000 ha). These feeders will be constantly supplied with grains by the staff of the Ferrara Reclamation Consortium.

The installation sites have been carefully selected by the project’s technical-scientific staff: they are privileged places by the partridges themselves as places of refuge from bad weather or winged predators.

Feeders, in fact, also serve to retain animals in the area: with the arrival of spring, when the winter brigades disperse, at least one couple will remain in the area surrounding the manger.
